The Marysville Police Department has unveiled a new emergency notification system that enhances communication between law enforcement and school officials in the event of a potentially dangerous situation near a school.
For the last 6 months, the Marysville Police Department has been working with local schools establishing specific perimeter zones for each school in the city. Each school now has an official who will be called by a dispatcher in the case of a dangerous situation.
Imagine a scenario involving a vehicle pursuit of an armed suspect who just robbed a bank. If the vehicle pursuit entered a designated perimeter zone of a school, a public safety dispatcher would notify a designated school official at that particular school.
The system was declared fully operational Friday.
