A man was shot in the abdomen Sunday afternoon during a confrontation outside a Marysville home, and police are asking for help finding the shooter.

Police responded to the 1100 block of Sampson Street at 12:10 p.m. and found 50-year-old Gene Tanksley Jr suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

During the investigation, officers learned Tanksley and his sister got into an argument with a group of people who pulled up to the Sampson Street home in a Honda Civic. A fight broke out, during which an Asian male pulled a handgun and fired 6 rounds at Tanksley.

After firing the shots, the Asian male and a Hispanic male got back into the Honda and fled the area, east on Highway 20.

The Asian male is described as having a dark skin complexion, with dark hair tied in a bun behind his head. He was reportedly wearing a white t-shirt, and he possibly has tattoos on his face. The Hispanic male passenger was further described as having short brown hair, wearing a green shirt.

Police say the Honda is a 90's model Civic, blue or green.
