Marysville man arrested for allegedly shaking baby

A 3-month-old girl is at Sutter Memorial Hospital in Sacramento after suffering severe head trauma, allegedly caused by her mother's boyfriend.

According to the Yuba County Sheriff's Department, 27-year-old Jacob Hern, of Marysville, faces charges of cruelty to a child and battery with great bodily injury.

Investigators say the Hern had been watching the baby and became frustrated when he could not get the infant to stop crying. That is when he started violently shaking the baby until she stopped crying.

The baby suffered internal bleeding in the brain area and was taken to the hospital where her current condition is unknown.

Hern was booked into the Yuba County Jail with bail set at $50,000.
