Two people are behind bars tonight on charges of human sex trafficking of a 16-year-old girl.
Both suspects were arrested today in a camp located in the river bottoms of Marysville.
Keith Crouch, 42 and Esther Campbell, 36 are facing numerous charges including rape by force, furnishing a controlled substance to a minor.
The investigation stemmed from a traffic stop February 19, when an officer stopped the driver of a red sedan because of a broken brake light in the parking lot of the Budget Inn on E Street.
Officers found it suspicious when the victim and the 60-year-old man claimed they didn't know each other.
Marysville police established the teen was from Boise, Idaho and had taken a bus to Yuba County to live with relatives.
The continuing investigation led police to Crouch and Campbell, that is when police determined she had been given drugs including heroine and was raped and forced into prostitution.
Police responded to the river bottoms Tuesday afternoon to reports of gunshots being heard in the area that is when officer found both suspects hiding in a tent, and later was arrested as they were wanted in the case.
Both suspects were booked into the Yuba County jail.
