Themes for the program will carry forward the legacy of the Civil Rights Movement, with organizers saying that that the work begun so long ago continues into the present ... with a need to address the pressing issues of our time .
"With people protesting in the streets, and young people demanding justice for all, a new civil rights movement is rising. I'm thrilled that this year's Chico celebration of Dr. King is part of this movement for justice, inspiring action," said Emily Alma, Coordinator of MLK UNITY Group.
The celebration is co-sponsored by: MLK Unity Group, Chico Peace & Justice Center, Second Baptist Church, Rhema Word of Faith, Trinity United Methodist Church, and CSU's Cross Cultural Leadership Center.
