Did Shasta County authorities have blinders on when it came to investigating the murder of Karen Duenas last year?
That's what the defense attorney argued today during closing arguments in the murder trial of Mark Duenas.
Attorney Ron Powell told the jury that investigators automatically focused on Karen's husband as the killer, even though there has been no physical evidence connecting Duenas to the murder.
But prosecutors countered that there were plenty of signs at the crime scene that eliminated any likelihood that an intruder killed Karen Duenas.
Prosecutors pointed to dust on the bedroom window sill undisturbed and no evidence of blood outside the home, among other signs.
The defense is expected to wrap up its arguments tomorrow before the case goes to the jury.
