A 62-year old man and his 60-year-old wife were the victims of a home invasion robbery at the 4500 block of Salmon Creek Road, Miranda. The suspects made off with seven pounds of marijuana and several thousand dollars of cash.
The male victim answered a knock on the door yesterday just before 8:00 p.m. where he was confronted by a Hispanic male who claimed to be lost. The male suspect then pointed a firearm at the victim and asked who else was in the residence. The victim told the man his wife was home. The suspect told the victim to call her, which he did. Both victims were then directed at gunpoint to get onto the floor of the residence. Blankets were thrown over their heads and they heard additional suspects enter the residence, estimated to be four or five suspects all wearing full faced ski masks.
According to statements given to the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office, both victim’s legs and feet were bound, while their heads were covered. The suspects then reportedly demanded to know where the marijuana and cash was kept.
Deputies say the evidence at the scene was consistent with the victims story. There is currently no further information about the suspects at this time and the victims will not face any criminal charges.
Lieutenant Steve Knight with the Humboldt County Sheriffs Office said that they are investigating the case and are unsure if it is connected to any other Humboldt County robberies.
