Thousands of dollars in electronics were stolen from Marigold Elementary School during two burglaries last weekend.
Dave Scott, Director of Educational Services with Chico Unified School District says the school was burglarized in the early morning hours of Saturday January 24 and Sunday January 25.
The burglars reportedly broke into classrooms by smashing in windows and then stole three Acer Notebooks, two laptops, three iPads, two walkie-talkies, and a digital camera. Scott estimates the total loss to be about $3,000. He also estimates the cost of replacing the 10 or so broken windows to be close to $1,000.
Marigold's Principal, Shawneese Heath, says this isn't the first time the school has been targeted.
Two months ago, storage units and classroom three were burglarized and vandalized.
Chico Police Sgt. Cesar Sandoval says another similar burglary was reported on Saturday at Christian Life Center Church, across the street from Marigold Elementary and Pleasant Valley High School.
