March is National MS Awareness Month, a time to draw attention to Multiple Schlerosis.
Locally, the Northern California Chapter of the National MS Society is gearing up for "Walk MS 2016" ... coming up Sunday April 17th in Chico's Bidwell Park. It's an event designed to bring the community together and to raise money to support research, programs and services for people living with the disease.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. at the One Mile Recreation Area, the Walk begins at 9 a.m.
Multiple Schlerosis is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system. It interrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body. Symptoms range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, and at least two to three more women have it. MS affects more than 2.3 million people worldwide.
