In this week's Subway Scholar Athlete of the Week, we introduce you to a Pleasant Valley Viking who's sailing towards a very successful future.
Sporting a 4.39 GPA, Pleasant Valley's Zack Eldredge ranks 8th in his class, and this Viking takes a liking to tough courses.
"I've got Gov't/Econ 1st period, then I go to AP English, then Psychology, AP Spanish 4, after lunch I have Physics and then AP Statistics, it's a lot of work," said Eldredge.
When it comes to choosing a college, this senior is in the process of solving that equation.
"I still need to hear back from Cal-Berkeley this weekend, but other than that, I've gotten into Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and I also just got into UCLA last weekend, most likely it'll be one of those 3," said Eldredge.
That's just the beginning. Eldredge eventually wants to become an engineer.
"Math and Science are my favorites, so people say engineering is for me," said Eldredge.
His enthusiasm for school mirrors his love of sports, especially basketball.
This past weekend, he scored 20 points and captured the MVP honors in the Northern Section All-Star game.
"If it wasn't for my teammates getting me the ball, it wouldn't have ever happened, thank all of them and just a big honor," said Eldredge.
Eldredge also particpates in baseball, and even though he's not gettiing as much playing time as he'd like, he's still maintaining a positive attitude and showing support for the solid 13-2 squad.
"I'm a little rusty to start off but even if i'm not getting in the game, I just try to stay upbeat in the dugout and encourage my teammates and encourage them to do well," said Eldredge.
For his outstanding outlook and tremendous work ethic, Zack Eldredge is our Subway Scholar Athlete of the Week.
