A man is in custody after he allegedly stabbed his girlfriend while she slept, the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office reported Tuesday.

Antonio Roa, 50, was on scene when deputies responded to an emergency call from a mobile home near the 4000 block of Road 99W in Orland.

Upon arrival, deputies located a woman who was suffering from multiple stab wounds. She told deputies that the suspect had woken her up with a tirade of verbal threats culminating in the stabbing.

The victim fled from her attacker and called 911 from a neighbor’s home.

The victim was transported to a hospital and is in critical condition.

The suspect was arrested a short time later at the residence. Officers said the suspect was suffering from self-inflicted cuts to his body. He was treated at Enloe Medical Center and released into the custody of sheriff’s deputies.

Roa was charged with attempted murder and corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant and is being held on $175,000 bond.
