Man shot by police in Yuba City

After pointing a rifle in a threatening manner, a male subject was shot by Yuba City Police officers.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. Friday, Yuba City Police officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Wilbur Avenue. A 911 caller indicated a disturbance and then dropped the phone, leaving the line open and giving no further information.

When Yuba City Police arrived at the scene they approached a male, who was in possession of a rifle. According to a press release, officers ordered the man to put the rifle down numerous times, but the man did not comply. The man then moved the rifle in a threatening manner and was shot by police.

The man was transported to Rideout Emergency Room for medical treatment.
