A Chico man is in the hospital after being shot and pistol-whipped by two assailants this evening.
According to Butte County Sheriff's deputies, the 22-year old victim was walking along Highway 32 between East Avenue and Muir Avenue when he was approached by two white and Hispanic males in their late teens described as being dressed in hoodies and beanies with one holding a gun.
A fight ensued and the victim was shot in the leg and pistol-whipped in the head. He was admitted to Enloe Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Butte County Sheriff's Department is investigating into whether there was a relationship between the two parties.
