A Corning man is being treated at UC Davis Medical Center after being severely burned in an apartment fire.
Authorities got the call of the fire just before 4 PM at 1515 Highway 99 West. A neighbor spotted an orange light inside a window and noticed the man inside was actually on fire as well. He tells Action News Now that he then broke the window and door in an attempt to bring the man out.
Corning Police first arrived on scene and helped bring the man to the front of the building. Neighbors say the victim, who they call Max, was severely burned and almost unrecognizable. An Enloe Hospital helicopter arrived a little after 4 PM and flew the victim to UC Davis Medical center for treatment.
The fire was contained to the one apartment. The cause is still under investigation.
