REDDING - A man is injured after his car was run off the road in the Chappie-Shasta off-highway vehicle area of Redding. The CHP received the call just before 12:30 Monday morning. The unidentified victim told authorities that he was about one hour down "trail 4" near Iron Mountain Road.
According to the CHP website, he was run off the road by a black Chevy truck. The victim became stuck in his truck when the motor started smoking and eventually caught fire.
It took a couple hours, due to rough road conditions, but the search and rescue team was finally able to reach him around 2:45a.m. He was found safely outside of the car, which was fully engulfed when officers arrived. The car fire has since been put out.
He suffered injuries to both his legs, but we do not know the extent to his injuries at this time.
