The California Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate a crash that left a man gravely injured just outside of Chico Wednesday morning.

Officers responded to black Toyota Avalon that drove off a hill near Forest just after 9 a.m. The vehicle was headed east on Highway 32 when the driver lost control and slammed into a tree.

CHP officials say emergency responders were first on the scene and found the driver with a serious head injury. He was rushed to Enloe Medical Center where he remains in critical condition.

Nobody else was injured in the crash and the investigation is ongoing.
