Adam Stevens has been confirmed as the suspect who resisted arrest and lunged at officers with a knife.
The man shot and killed by Red Bluff Police at the Red Bluff Meadow's Apartments has been positively identified as 25-year-old Adam Stevens, a wanted parolee. Stevens was shot on the balcony of an apartment early Tuesday morning after police say he advanced on them with a knife. Police responded to a 9-11 call of a suspicious man on an upstairs balcony. Officers confronted Stevens, who was in an agitated state. Red Bluff Police state the officers attempted to use non-lethal bean bags to subdue Stevens before resorting to real gunfire after Stevens aggressively advanced upon the officers with a knife.
There were a total of five Red Bluff Police officers on scene, three sergeants and one detective. The three officers who fired their weapons are on paid leave during the duration of the investigation, which has been taken over by the Tehama County District Attorney’s office.
