TORRANCE, Calif. (AP) - Police have captured a man they say chased someone with a chainsaw and then tried to run down people with a truck at a Southern California work yard.

Police Sgt. Paul Kranke says a report of an armed man sent officers to a Southern California Edison yard in Torrance around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Kranke says a man who may be a subcontractor for a tree-trimming firm used by Edison argued with the foreman, chased him with the chainsaw and then tried to run over people.

Kranke says police opened fire but didn't hit the man. However, he received minor injuries, possibly from shattered glass or even from the chainsaw.

He was taken to a hospital.

Kranke says the foreman also had minor injuries but it's unclear what caused them.
