A man is behind bars in Shasta County after turning himself in to police for firing a gun inside an Anderson home.

On Tuesday afternoon, Shasta County Sheriff's Deputies were called to the home on the 19000 block of Riverside Avenue.

Deputies say a woman in the home told them she got into a verbal dispute with the suspect, Alton Gragg, about him being out all night and his drinking habits.

Two young children were also at the home when Gragg fired off two rounds from a .45 caliber handgun in the bathroom.

The suspect left the scene before deputies arrived.
Then around 10:15 that night, Gragg was at the Happy Valley Market when he contacted officers after hearing he was wanted.

He admitted to firing the weapon and was taken into custody.
Gragg was booked for negligent discharge of a firearm and child cruelty.
