The Butte County Coroner's Office has identified the man who was fatally struck by a Union Pacific train in Biggs Monday afternoon as 51-year-old Eloy Sandoval, of Gridley.
Law Enforcement received the call at 2:23 p.m. Monday and called for the Coroner's Office as soon as they arrived on the scene.
The incident happened on the tracks near Hastings Avenue and 6th Street.
A California Highway Patrol Official on the scene said the Union Pacific Conductor told Law Enforcement that the victim purposely walked out in front of the train as it was approaching and the whole incident was captured on video, but the Butte County Sheriff's Office says the investigation is ongoing.
