A Paradise man was taken to Enloe Medical Center after crashing his pickup into a tree near the intersection of Durham-Dayton Highway and Esquon Road just before 8:00 p.m. Sunday.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Romele D. Buanno, 46, was traveling eastbound in a Ford pickup when he drifted to the right and into a ditch, crashing into the trees causing severe entrapment.

It took Cal Fire and other fire agencies about an hour and twenty minutes to help extricate the driver out of the vehicle, said California Highway patrol Officer K. Powell.

The man suffered two broken legs and multiple internal fractures and was taken to Enloe Medical Center.

Before being taken to the hospital for treatment Buanno was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
