Oct 31, 2013 12:47 PM

The number one and two lanes of I-5 near the Hilltop Drive Over crossing in Redding were closed after a man drove his truck off the over crossing just after 8:30 a.m. this morning. Two northbound lanes were closed but reopened a little after 10 a.m. this morning.

About 15 minutes before the accident, the Redding Police Department received calls of a reckless driver in a blue Ford F-250 in the area of Old Alturas Road in Redding. Witnesses driving southbound on the Hilltop Drive over crossing told law enforcement officials the driver of the blue truck heading north was roughly going about 60 mph before driving off the over crossing. The truck landed on the northbound lanes of I-5, but only the 58-year-old driver of the truck sustained minor injuries. The driver was transported to an area.

Both the number one and number two lanes of northbound I-5 were closed from approximately 8:30 a.m. until a little after 10 a.m. CHP has confirmed both lanes have since reopened.

The Redding Police Department is investigating the crash and suspect alcohol may have been a factor.
