TORRANCE, Calif. (AP) - A man will be sentenced in the beating of a mother over a parking spot she was blocking while putting her 6-month-old son in a car seat.

The Daily Breeze reports jurors on Tuesday found 70-year-old Roy Foster Otis guilty of assault with a deadly weapon and other charges.

Mayra Castillo testified Otis honked at her while she stood next to her car with the door open. Castillo said she asked Otis to wait as she put her baby in the seat.

She said Otis got out of his vehicle and punched and kicked her.

Someone pulled Castillo away from the spot while Otis parked there.

Otis said during a recorded interview with detectives that he slapped Castillo three times.

He is scheduled to be sentenced June 23.
