CHANDLER, Ariz. (AP) - A Christmas Eve shooting outside a Gila River casino has left one man dead.

The Gila River Indian Community Police say the shooting happened outside Wild Horse Pass Hotel & Casino on the Gila River Indian Community on Thursday shortly before 9 p.m.

Police earlier Friday said 25-year-old Frank Rojas was suspected of shooting 52-year-old Frank Pascua three times.

But on Friday afternoon, police issued a statement saying the Rojas had been cleared of any involvement.

The statement says that "after numerous tips police were able to follow up on leads provided and able to clear Frank Rojas as a person of interest in the homicide at The Wild Horse Pass Hotel and Casino. Further information will be provided upon apprehension of the suspect."

Pascua, a retired police officer from Bakersfield, California, was taken to a hospital after the shooting, but he succumbed to his injuries.
