SAN FERNANDO, Calif. (AP) - A Southern California man charged with sexually assaulting and killing his 19-day-old daughter has pleaded not guilty to murder and other charges.
Matthew Warner of Newhall entered pleas Thursday to charges that carry a potential life sentence.
His daughter was reported missing in late January by Warner and the baby's mother. Authorities say the next day, Warner led investigators to her body. It was in the cab of a pickup truck parked at a Santa Clarita apartment complex about a half-mile from Warner's home.
Besides murder, he's charged with assault on a child causing death, torture and two sexual assault charges.
Authorities haven't disclosed a motive for the killing.
