The man charged with starting the wildfire that destroyed roughly half of the town of Weed last September pleaded guilty to a single count of arson Tuesday.

Ronald Marshall, 25, was in court Tuesday for pre-trial conference and entered a guilty plea.

Prosecutors say Marshall was caught on surveillance video near the Boles Creek Apartments, where the fire started, and say he confessed to starting the blaze during questioning.

The Boles Fire, which broke out on September 15, 2014, torched nearly 500 acres and destroyed 150 homes and structures in the town of Weed.

Marshall is scheduled to be sentenced July 28.
