Man charged for Tehama Co. Courthouse fake bomb

The Tehama County District Attorney’s Office has filed charges against Jeremiah Paul Ray Setzer for his role in a bomb scare that shut down Red Bluff for hours on April 28.

On the morning on April 28 two suspicious packages were found by the Tehama County Courthouse in Red Bluff. Authorities were forced to call the Shasta County Bomb Squad in to set up a large perimeter around the area.

The Shasta County Bomb Squad investigated the situation for six hours and ultimately determined the bombs were fake.

A Tehama County Sheriff’s Department investigation led authorities to Setzer and Friday he was charged two counts of placing a false bomb, each with a special allegation of suffering prior felony convictions. Setzer faces a more than 7 years in prison.
