The Plumas County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 24-year-old Kenneth Stringfellow of Quincy on charges of felony child abuse and homicide.

In the early morning of December 12, 2013 sheriff deputies were called to 1374 Peppard Flat Road in Quincy to a report of an unresponsive toddler. Fire crews and other emergency personnel also responded to the residence. The victim, whose name, age, and injuries have not been released, was transported to Plumas District Hospital and eventually transported to Renowned Medical Center in Reno, Nev.

The child passed away from his injuries on December 13.

Due to the circumstances surrounding the incident and based upon their investigation, the sheriff’s office opened a child abuse investigation and eventually arrested Stringfellow. He was originally being held on a $500,000 bail for felony child abuse then rebooked on a homicide charge after the child’s death.
