Investigators in Shasta County say they have found a man responsible for a string of burglaries in the Burney area over the past few days.
According to the sheriff's office the Burney area had been experiencing a rash of burglaries to businesses, schools and residences, but after the arrest of 18-year-old Nicholas Kelso Dooley Saturday night the thefts stopped.
Dooley was arrested at a Safeway Saturday evening when employees recognized him as a burglary suspect from the previous night.
Deputies found Dooley to be in possession of stolen property, and he then proceeded to admit to going on a crime spree that started with the theft of computer equipment from the Intermountain Community Center.
After the community center burglary, Dooley allegedly stole a cell phone from an employee at the Fall River Joint Unified School District, stole the keys and vehicle of a Burney High School employee and then stole a Safeway employee's purse.
Dooley was booked into the Shasta County jail for violating his probation terms and is still in custody.
