An Anderson man was arrested for felony DUI and a Cottonwood woman was seriously injured following a single vehicle crash in Red Bluff early Saturday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol 25-year-old Cody Metcalf, of Anderson, was on River View Dr. when he missed a left hand turn and lost control of his 2006 Chrysler Mini Cooper. The car slammed into a power pole and caught on fire.

Metcalf and witnesses extinguished the fire and passenger Kristen Gardner remained trapped inside the car.

Gardner had to be extracted from the vehicle after power to downed lines was shut off. She was transported to Mercy Medical Center with major injuries.

Metcalf was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and booked into the Tehama County Jail for felony DUI.
