A dramatic ending to an armed robbery at a Redding gas station. The robbery happened about 7:30 this morning at the Chevron Gas Station at 1650 Hilltop Drive.

Police say the suspect, identified as 31-year old Daniel Murillo of Medford, Oregon, disguised himself and threatened the clerk with a knife before demanding money from the gas station clerk. Once the cash register was open Murillo jumped onto the counter and began grabbing money from the till. The clerk then sprayed Murillo with pepper spray and Murillo dropped the money and left the store without cash.

Murillo fled to the Motel 6 on Hilltop Drive and held a female victim, whom he had been visiting, against her will. Murillo eventually left the hotel room after a short stand off and was arrested.

Murillo was booked at the Shasta County Jail for robbery, false imprisonment, burglary and crminal threats.
