A Marysville man is arrested for DUI after allegedly hitting a woman and fleeing the scene. The incident happened on Tuesday, about 3:40 p.m. at the intersection of 3rd Street and H Street. Marysville Police say Derrick Jason Hill, 24, reportedly struck a woman standing on a sidewalk and attempted to flee in his vehicle, but a Good Samaritan followed Hill until he stopped and pulled into a parking space. The Good Samaritan then blocked Hill's vehicle into the parking space until officers arrived.

When officers arrived, Hill was seen standing in the middle of the roadway of 3rd Street and H Street, with his hands in the air. Several witnesses were seen pointing to Hill, stating he had just hit a woman in his vehicle, a green Ford Ranger, and fled the scene.

An officer immediately noticed Hill showed signs of alcohol intoxication. A witness also reported that Hill appeared drunk. The officer started a DUI investigation at the scene. When Hill refused to perform field sobriety tests, he was subsequently arrested for suspicion of DUI. An open container of beer was later located in Hill's vehicle during an inventory search.
Officer's located the victim, a 26 year old woman, who had managed to walk into Rideout Hospital Emergency Room after being struck by Hill's vehicle. The victim told officers she was just getting off of work, and was standing on the north sidewalk of 3rd Street, outside of the Rideout Hospital Emergency Room. As the victim was preparing to cross 3rd Street, she noticed Hill's green Ford Ranger traveling towards her, west on 3rd Street. The victim saw Hill's Ford go over the sidewalk curb, knocking over several construction cones. Before she could move out of the way, the victim was struck in her chest by the Ford's passenger side mirror. The victim also reported the passenger side door of the Ford struck her right side, causing severe pain. A witness reported that the Ford's passenger mirror broke off, and the impact forced the victim into a 360 degree spin.

A breath test revealed Hill's blood alcohol concentration level was a .24%, three times the legal limit. Hill was booked into the Yuba County Jail for DUI causing bodily injury, felony hit and run, and possessing an open container of an alcoholic beverage in a vehicle.
