A man on probation in Shasta County was rearrested Tuesday when it was discovered he had a cache of weapons and drugs held in a storage facility in north Redding.
Shasta County sheriffs and probation officers executed search warrants on a mini storage facility believed to be used by Shaun Espinoza, 35. During the search, officers uncovered an assault rifle, three additional firearms and corresponding ammunition.
Sheriffs also found evidence of a butane honey oil lab in the storage unit. Investigators found equipment for processing marijuana and around 10 pounds of processed marijuana.
The suspect was detained earlier in the day at his residence on Metro Way in Redding.
He was charged with possession of weapons and ammunition, and drug possession in addition to the probation violations.
Espinoza was booked by officers into the Shasta County Jail.
During 2015, the suspect was placed on post release supervision after serving a jail sentence in San Francisco. In December, Espinoza successfully had his post release transferred from San Francisco to Shasta County to be supervised by the Shasta County Probation Department.
