A Chico man has been arrested this morning after creating disturbances at three area businesses.

The Chico Police Department says the string of disturbances began around 7 a.m. at the Chico Food Maxx where a man grabbed a bottle of liquor and used it as weapon, threatening employees.

Police then received reports a man with a knife was threatening employees at The Roost Café.

A third report of a disturbance came shortly after from the Naked Lounge coffee shop, and descriptions of the individual involved matched the description of the man responsible for the previous disturbances.

A Chico Police officer spotted a man walking down Esplanade Avenue and attempted to make contact, but the man ran away from the officer. Chico Police chased the man down Esplanade, just north of Northern Star Mills where he was eventually tackled on the center divider.

Police say the man is 30-year-old Hale Manning. They say Manning is a known transient and officers have made contact with him before.

Manning was arrested and charged with armed robbery for the incident at The Roost Café.
