A man was arrested this morning after reports of an attempted robbery at Lulu’s Restaurant on Pine Street, the Starbucks inside Safeway and the Safeway gas station on Pine Street.

According to the Redding Police Department the suspect Bradley King, attempted to reach into the cash register tray at Lulu’s to steal money while the cashier was helping another customer. The cashier was able to resist Kings attempt and he fled the scene.

Across the street at the Starbuck’s inside Safeway, he demanded cash while pretending to have a gun under his sweatshirt. The cashier told him he couldn’t open the cash drawer so King left the Starbucks.

After leaving the Starbucks King walked to the Safeway gas station, on the east side of the store. He again simulated having a gun under his sweatshirt and demanded cash. The cashier told him he could not open the cash register drawer. King went behind the counter and the cashier backed away. King threw the cash register onto the floor causing it to open and allowing him to take a handfuls of bills.

A Redding Police Officer spotted King exiting the Safeway gas station. When King saw the officer he threw a handful of money into the air.

King was arrested for one count of Robbery and two counts of Attempted Robbery. He is an admitted methamphetamine user and had a hypodermic syringe with him when he was arrested.

He was booked into Shasta County Jail.
