Man arrested for alleged sword attack in Redding

Redding Police have arrested a man for allegedly attacking a woman with a sword during an argument Wednesday morning.

According to police, a patrol officer was flagged down by a 21-year-old Redding woman near Hartnell Avenue and Lawrence Road at 7:24 a.m. Wednesday. The woman was bleeding from the head and told the officer she had been hit in the head with a sword.

The woman was transported to Mercy Medical Center and is expected to be ok.

Police began to investigate the incident and with the help of nearby residents they located Brandon Scott Gray, of Vacaville. Gray told police he had been partying with the victim all night and showed the sword to police.

The investigation revealed Grant began striking the victim after an argument erupted early Wednesday. Grant was arrested and booked into the Shasta County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon and robbery.
