A Plumas County man was arrested Thursday afternoon for allegedly telling a store employee the high powered rifle ammunition he was purchasing was going to be used to "shoot some Quincy cops."

Employees at American Valley Hardware in Quincy called the sheriff's office around 1 p.m. saying a man, later identified as Kenneth Whitaker, had just purchased high powered rifle ammunition.

While he was making the purchase Whitaker allegedly told an employee he "needed to shoot some Quincy cops."

Sheriff's deputies responded to the scene and found Whitaker in possession of the ammunition and a loaded firearm in his vehicle.

He was arrested and booked into the Plumas County Jail for making criminal threats.
