A man is behind bars after leading Chico Police on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle early Tuesday morning.
Around 4 a.m., police say Mike Murray stole a car from the 12-hundred block of North Cedar.
Police say the keys were left inside the car.
While officers were on scene speaking to the owner of the vehicle, they saw Murray drive by in the car.
When police initiated a traffic stop, Murray fled, leading three officers on a short pursuit near Bidwell Park, driving around 50 miles per hour.
He abandoned the car down Vallombrosa Avenue and took off on foot.
Officers arrested him in the creek.
They say he is under arrest for vehicle theft.
Officials say he was just released from jail Thursday for another car theft.
There's no word if Murray and the owner of the vehicle knew each other.
