Making Greener Beer

Dec 29, 2008 9:08 PM

Sierra Nevada Brewing Company is cooking up yet another way to be environmentally friendly.

The Chico based business recently got approval from the California Water Resources Control Board to use recycled water from it's water treatment plant to irrigate it's hops crop located next to the brewery.

The treatment plant cleans water left over from the beer making process.

An underground pipe is already in place to transport water from the treatment plant to the fields.

But, a pump and filter are still needed.

Construction on the water system should be complete in the next few months.
