May is Lyme Disease Awareness month and the Lyme Center is please to announce the first ever "Lyme Aid" event on Saturday May 17th.
It will take place at the "Sweet Cottage" at 221 Broadway in Downtown Chico.
There will be live acoustic music, speakers, and information about how you can protect yourself from Lyme Disease.
That's in addition to Sweet Cottage's delicious homemade pies and other sweet treats.
Lyme Disease is a tick born disease, so everyone should protect against ticks when spending tie outdoors and check your body for them after an outing.
Lyme Disease is often misdiagnosed as Fibromyalgia, Multiple Sclerosis or Lupus. Early symptoms mirror those of the flu, including muscle stiffness, and in about 30 percent of the cases it's accompanied by a bullseye-type rash around the tick bite.
The Lyme Center is a local non-profit that can be reached at (530) 877-6666. There is also a Lyme Disease Support Group that meets the third Monday of each month from 5:30 - 7 p.m. at Independent Living Services of Northern California.
