LOS ANGELES (AP) - At least 778 firearms were turned over to Los Angeles law enforcement during last weekend's no-questions-asked gun buyback.

Mayor Eric Garcetti's office announced Monday that the weapons gathered at two locations on Saturday included rifles, shotguns and handguns.

In return, grocery gift cards ranging from $100 to $200 were offered, depending on the type of weapon turned in.

City News Service says that since the Mayor's Gang Reduction and Youth Development Office began the buyback program in 2009, the city has collected nearly 14,000 guns.
