Long Time Educator builds fancy birdhouse to fund Fair view Scholarships

To many Chicoans he’s known simply as the “Vig”. Bernie Vigallon is now retired from Chico Unified School District, but he’s continuing to make a difference for students.
Long time Principal of Fair View High School, Vigallon has been building and selling bird houses for the past eleven years … donating all of the profits to help students in Fair View High School’s Alternative Education Program. He does this by way of nontraditional Scholarships for career and technical education.
Vigallon is quick to brush aside accolades, and loves to share stories of how he will run into a former student and they tell him how much they appreciated his help at a time when they really needed it. And sometimes, how some of them then pay it forward to help others in need.
From May 5th to June 20th you can see Bernie Vigallon’s colorful and whimsical birdhouses for yourself in an exhibit at the Upper Crust Bakery in Downtown Chico. ###
