Passages is offering a series of workshops to help North State seniors and their families with Long Term Care planning.
The first workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, February 17th at CARD's Lakeside Pavilion. It runs from 10 a.m. to Noon. While the workshop is free, reservations are required because of limited space. To make a reservation call (530) 898-5923 by February 15th.
This workshop will focus on what to expect when applying to Medi-Cal for Long Term Care. It will include a presentation by an eligibility specialist from Butte County Department of Employment and Social Service.
Tatiana Fassieux, the Program Manager for the Health Insurance and Counseling Advocacy Program, under the local Area Agency on Aging, says "It's important for individuals and family caregivers to get accurate information when developing an estate and long term care plan." She also said it's important to revisit the plan every five years because laws change as well as family circumstances.
Two more workshops are planned: April 21st - "End-of-Life Planning: Necessary steps to take so your last wishes are carried out" and June 16th - "Financial Planning for Long Term Care: Strategies, products and services." They will also take place at the Lakeside Pavilion, which is located at 2565 Califoria Park Drive, in Chico.
