Lone Fire Cause Investigation Continues

Jun 4, 2013 6:40 PM

Butte County Cal Fire stated in a release sent out at 4:40 p.m. today that their department responded to a series of ten fires that burned into three large fires along Lone Tree Road in Palermo yesterday. The fires destroyed two residential structures and multiple agricultural outbuildings, as well as vehicles and ranch equipment according to the release.

After their initial fire investigation, investigators determined downed power lines have been ruled out as a cause and the fires do not appear to be suspicious in nature.

As the investigation continues, there are indications that the fires may have been started by a vehicle with a mechanical problem or by a vehicle towing a trailer with a low hanging chain.

Anyone with information regarding these fire starts are asked to contact the Fire Prevention Bureau at 530-538-7888 or call the Fire Tip Line at 530-538-6227. Callers can remain anonymous.
