A Durham High School student has burst onto the scene in competitive weightlifting becoming one of the best in the country in just a short period of time. Fifteen year-old sophomore Megan Seegert has already excelled in several big meets across the nation, including the Junior Nationals in Missouri last June, where she took 3rd place. More recently though Seegert qualified for the Youth Pan American Games in Lima, Peru, which will take place in May. Before that she will also head to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. Seegert only began the sport of weightlifting last April, meaning she has accomplished all of this in less than a year's time and she's excited about what lies ahead, especially her trip to Peru.
