16 Chico Students will be awarded a shopping spree from The Salvation Army and Target to help supply them with what they need for the upcoming school year.
According to a press release, each child selected by the Salvation Army will be awarded an $81 Target gift card to purchase much needed back-to-school supplies. The children have been selected on the immediate need for social services and from families with qualifying incomes.
The Salvation Army Chico Corps Volunteers will be awarding the gift cards to the students Friday, July 26 at 9 a.m. at the Target on 1950 E. 20th St in Chico.
Since 2009, Target has sponsored Target School Sprees to help prepare children for the first day of school, according to its press release. Nearly 500 Target stores will participate in the Target School Spree event between July 15 and August 15 in select regions across the country.
