The owner of a North State insurance agency says President Obama's announcement today is only adding to the confusion of Obamacare.
John Sweeney was given direction from insurance carriers to hold off on telling clients whether they can or can't keep their coverage.
That's because state regulators and insurance companies have the option to extend coverage.
Now Sweeney said, everyone in California is scrambling to figure out what's going on.
“Our marketing reps with the carriers don't even know what's going on now,” Sweeney said. The carriers are going to have to scramble now, and get a hold of the state of California to see if [people] can keep those plans.”
Sweeney fears today's announcement could hurt the exchange program by creating what is called "adverse selection," with too many healthy people out of the exchange.
