A local golfer has been selected to participate in a prestigious tournament in Canada.

15-year-old Noah Norton, a sophomore at Pleasant Valley High School in Chico, will join three other golfers in representing team Northern Calfiornia next week at the 42nd Junior America's Cup at Shaugnessey Golf and Country Club in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The Junior America's Cup, which began in 1973, bring together the top junior golfers in a field of 17 team representing 12 Western States, two Canadian Provinces and Mexico.

Norton is coming off a fantastic freshman year at Pleasant Valley where he was arguably the best golfer in the Northern Section and he's excited for the opportunity to play in the Junior America's Cup.

"I was really happy when I was told that I'd been selected to be on the team, and I get to play alongside some great players. My goals are to hopefully play this game for the rest of my life and I got to work really hard to do that," said Norton.
