The sound of Father's day in Chico's downtown plaza was present Sunday; that's where Lon Glazner took his two children on bicycle. "It's a great time to be riding bikes in Chico, it feels like summer, there's very little traffic around town, we've just had fun checking out all the wonderful things in Chico."
Other dads were pampered at Giada Salon and Spa. The local business is offering 30 percent off all services every Sunday through Tuesday during the month of June. Other good deals were available to make sure all dads enjoyed their special day. "They're so excited to come in, fathers for the first time have been coming in, getting their scalped massaged, getting a hair cut and I think they are really enjoying it," hairstylist Keri Huntington stated.
"I didn't have any idea, it was all a surprise so I didn't have any expectations, but it was a really nice gift," father German Campos explained. It was also a really nice way for sons Diego and Luca to let their dad know just how much he's appreciated. "I love him! (Me too!) He's the best Dad!"
This sunday marks the 100th anniversay of celebrating fathers, but it wasn't until 1972 that President Richard Nixon signed it into law. Sonora Dodd of Washington started the holiday and ever since, it's become a tradition to honor dads. Giada Salon and Spa is now open everyday.
