The control tower and passenger terminal at Chico Municipal Airport is now operating under emergency generator power after lightning struck a nearby power transformer earlier this morning. Passengers waiting for the early flight reported hearing a loud explosion around 6-30 a.m. before power was knocked out temporarily. We are hearing that flights have been delayed. A city spokesman told Action News that a PG&E crew is working to restore power, but there is no word on when they might happen. We will bring you further developments as they come in.
